dc.description.abstractThis research is focused on improving reading skills using Folk tales centered only in Ibarra city for seventh-grade students at Unidad Educativa Ibarra. This project aims to propose a didactic strategy as the folktales to improve reading comprehension in English as a foreign language so that students feel comfortable and confident practicing it and avoid frustration in learning this language. This project is based on the theoretical basis of establishing different and fun resources with Folktales that improve reading skills. The present research was carried out with the important collaboration of the Principal, English teachers, Administrative personnel, and the valuable participation of the seventh-grade students at Unidad Educativa Ibarra. Furthermore, this study was focused on a mixed method therefore quantitative and qualitative methods were used for the data collection, using instruments such as interviews and surveys. The interviews were directed to the Principal and English teachers as well as the surveys to seventh-grade students. With the results obtained, a didactic guide with innovative activities with folktales (legends) from Ibarra city to improve English language learning was designed.es_EC
