Abstract: English is considered a global language. To acquire it, it is essential for the student to develop the four English skills. Although each one represents a challenge for students, they need to be worked on inside and outside the learning environment. However, students have low performance in listening skills due to the limited possibilities for meaningful and transcendent learning. The purpose of this study was to establish learning strategies based on storytelling strategies for enhancing listening comprehension. The present research was carried out at the Universidad Técnica del Norte with English teachers and first-level English major students using a methodology based on a mixed approach with descriptive and transversal designs to achieve the stated objectives. The data collected consisted of quantitative and qualitative information collected through interviews, surveys, and a test. According to the analysis of the results, teachers supported the idea that listening skills can be challenging for learners. On the other hand, 88,57% of students considered that storytelling could improve their listening skills and comprehension.
