This research work was aimed to establish the relationship between the level of university professors’ digital competences concerning their gender and generation. The study was based on a sample of 613 professionals with an undergraduate degree, who came from different areas of Ecuador; they were the attendees to the "Training Program for Leveling Tutors using Virtual Modality" at Técnica del Norte University (Ibarra -Ecuador). This research applied a quantitative and explanatory approach where the non-parametric statistical test of Chi-square was used to corroborate the validity of the data; it was obtained from a survey applied to the participants in this training course. The results show that the level of digital competences is gender independent but generation dependent. Generation Z is the one with the best digital capabilities, with an average of 61.14%. Regarding the gender, a dependence is observed only with two out of five groups of competencies analyzed in this study; the cloud storage and the interaction of social network. The research line of digital competences is extensive, the results should not be generalized or extrapolated without considering the characteristics of the educators and the context, it is suggested to assess the teaching staff digital competencies, considering other types of demographic variables, so that higher education institutions can carry out a comprehensive training planning in digital skills. Its foundation as a colonial city in 1606, in a valley already inhabited by important indigenous communities, with its subsequent but slow transition into a capitalist modernity, generated transformations and transitions on both ideological and material degrees. Thus, the city and its public space must be interpreted as a document or device, as the changes that have taken place convey a particular discourse. Ibarra sees itself as a localized city that mutates towards an emplaced society, which is shifting from its baroque and republican past towards a heterotopic present and future. This is a space that allows, by its own discursive logics, to create new spaces. This research aims to contribute with a new reading to the debates on Heritage and Identity in the digital era, and more importantly to establish distances in light of conservative or postmodernist discourses. Heritage is not a stationary space, nor is it Identity, and this is not just an antiquated narrative from a remote past. Both are devices that also in the Digital Age express goals and desires of a society. Information and Communication Technologies are a powerful device for the reproduction of these discourses, which are ultimately the spokespersons for structures of socio-cultural and socio-racial domination. El objetivo de la presente investigación es explicar la trayectoria y principales obras de los artistas y fotógrafos catalanes en el primer tercio del siglo XX. Es una investigación de corte cualitativo y de carácter histórico, en la que se utilizó el método biográfico narrativo porque se analizó varias obras de artistas catalanes en el Ecuador y su influencia en el contexto en el que estos estuvieron inmersos. La técnica bibliográfica fue la empleada durante la investigación y dos son las preguntas científicas que la guiaron: ¿Cuál es la trayectoria de los artistas catalanes en el Ecuador? ¿Cuáles fueron las obras relevantes desarrolladas en el Ecuador por los artistas catalanes? La investigación concluye la presencia de diez artistas y fotógrafos catalanes destacados en el pais entre 1900 y 1939, quienes jugaron roles importantes en la definición del arte ecuatoriano contemporáneo.
