| es_EC |

| dc.description.abstract-en | The self-regulation of the athlete is a decisive factor in the sports performance of that person. Knowing how to identify their emotions and knowing how to control them is a big step, since it not only leads to an improvement at a sporting level, but it is also a key pillar in the integral construction of the person. Therefore, we must be clear that as sports instructors we play a significant role in the work of self-regulation of our athletes. Emotional regulation has demonstrated its importance and influence in various areas of individual development, particularly in social functioning during childhood. At the psychological level, sport brings great benefits: in personal development and stability and in social skills. It has been shown that when children practice sports regularly, their ability to concentrate increases and their visual and motor coordination is more efficient, so that their academic performance is better as a result. Here we must add that they also sleep better, a key aspect to maintain good academic performance and emotional stability. The work of emotional regulation of adolescent athletes (6-12 years old) in the basketball club LOONEY TUNES in the city of Ibarra is done in a playful and pedagogical way. This work is aimed at the young basketball player to acquire the ability to predict and evaluate the outcome of their negative and positive reactions to the sporting event, such as victory, defeat, injuries typical of the sporting process. | es_EC |
