dc.description.abstractLa participación de las estudiantes ecuatorianas en carreras técnicas ha aumentado; sin embargo, su representación en ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas aún es escasa. En este sentido, se necesita una educación crítica que rompa con los paradigmas, factores y barreras que enfrentan las estudiantes, considerando el clima hostil de las carreras y la baja representación de mujeres directivas en empresas vinculadas al campo STEM. En este artículo, presentamos acciones realizadas en el marco del proyecto W-STEM para crear una nueva visión del rol femenino en las carreras técnicas. Además, proponemos un plan de acción para empoderar a las mujeres en áreas STEM, enfocado en las escuelas secundarias de la zona norte del país, bajo los ejes transversales de acceso, atracción y orientación. Estos ejes nos permitirán definir la importancia del rol de las mujeres en las carreras STEM, abriendo horizontes para garantizar las condiciones de una sociedad con igualdad de oportunidades. dc.description.abstract-enThe participation of Ecuadorian female students in technical careers has increased; however, their representation in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) remains limited. In this context, a critical education is needed to break the paradigms, factors, and barriers faced by female students, considering the hostile climate of these programs and the low representation of women in leadership positions within companies related to the STEM field. In this article, we present actions carried out within the framework of the W-STEM project to create a new vision of the female role in technical careers. In addition, we propose an action plan to empower women in STEM areas, focused on secondary schools in the northern region of the country, under the transversal axes of access, attraction, and guidance. These axes will allow us to define the importance of women's roles in STEM careers, opening new horizons to guarantee the conditions for a society with equal opportunities.
