dc.description.abstractEl ritual de invocación denominado Wantyay es un protocolo funerario de despedida de los kichwa Otavalo. Esta investigación de enfoque cualitativo utilizó el método etnográfico con entrevistas de profundidad a 30 informantes calificados elegidos en las comunidades indígenas con experiencia en el ritual Wantyay. De este análisis, se deduce que mediante este rito se facilita la transición del alma del difunto hacia el Chayshuk Pacha (paraíso de los ancestros), lo que garantiza la relación perpetua entre la comunidad de los vivos y de los muertos, asegurando la transmisión intergeneracional de los saberes en su lengua ancestral, así como la revitalización de los principios de la cosmovisión andina. Para su puesta en valor, se propone fortalecer el kichwa gestionando la declaratoria del ritual funerario como patrimonio cultural inmaterial del Ecuador. En suma, este rito funerario norandino está totalmente entrelazado con la estructura y las relaciones sociales y lingüísticas del pueblo kichwa Otavalo.es_EC

dc.description.abstract-enThe invocation ritual called Wantyay is a funeral protocol of farewell of the Otavalo Kichwa. This qualitative research used the ethnographic method with in-depth interviews with 30 qualified in-formants chosen from the indigenous communities with experience in the Wantyay ritual. From this analysis, it is deduced that this ritual facilitates the transition of the soul of the deceased to the Chayshuk Pacha (paradise of the ancestors), which guarantees the perpetual relationship between the community of the living and the dead, ensuring the intergenerational transmission of knowledge in their ancestral language, as well as the revitalization of the principles of the Andean cosmovision. In order to enhance its value, it is proposed to strengthen the Kichwa language by having the funeral ritual declared an intangible cultural heritage of Ecuador. In short, this No-randino funeral rite is totally intertwined with the structure and social and linguistic relations of the Otavalo Kichwa people.es_EC
