| Abstract: | La educación ambiental es considerada un instrumento que puede dar aportes significativos a la construcción de la sustentabilidad como anhelo de la sociedad. Esta disciplina pedagógica ha evolucionado en sus 50 años de historia, influenciada por la consolidación del concepto de desarrollo sostenible a finales del siglo XIX y los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible en el siglo XXI. En el caso del Ecuador, existe un corpus legal y técnico que justifica la orientación de la Educación Ambiental hacia impulsar el desarrollo sostenible. Esto ha hecho que las universidades públicas ecuatorianas adquieran el compromiso de promover la sustentabilidad en su gestión y en la docencia, la investigación y la vinculación. El presente trabajo describe los aportes dados por la Facultad de Posgrado de la Universidad Técnica del Norte para promover la educación ambiental para la sustentabilidad en sus funciones sustantivas. |
| metadata.dc.description.abstract-en: | Environmental education is considered an instrument tomake significant contributions inthe construction of sustainability as a society goal. As a pedagogical discipline, it has evolved in its 50-year history, influenced by the consolidation of the sustainable development concept at the end of the 19th century and the Sustainable Development Goals in the 21st century. In the case of Ecuador, there is a legal and technical corpus that justifies the orientation of Environmental Education towards promoting sustainable development. This has made Ecuadorian publicuniversities commit to promoting sustainability in their management and in teaching, research and relations with societyThis paper describes the contributions made by the Postgraduate Faculty of Universidad Técnica del Norte to promote environmental education for sustainability in its substantive functions. |
