Resumen : The present research work sought to use the legends of the Awá people as a resource that helps the development of reading, through the development of a pamphlet as a pedagogical resource. This qualitative project was carried out at the UTN University Baccalaureate School during the 2022-2023 school year, located in the city of Ibarra, province of Imbabura. The tools used to collect information were the interview and the observation guide. The results allowed us to diagnose the level of development of the students' reading skills, as well as the methodology used by the classroom teacher. Additionally, visits were made to the Awá center, El Baboso with the purpose of learning from the source the traditions, myths and legends of this nationality that were compiled and translated into the English language along with activities before, during and after the reading, as well as The brochure Ti: The origin – Awá legends was prepared to finally be socialized with the English teachers and students of the institution.
