dc.description.abstractEste artículo presenta un análisis de los hallazgos del primer acercamiento a las mujeres en ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas (STEM) en Ecuador, con el objetivo de proponer y promover la formación de una comunidad de mujeres STEM. Este acercamiento permitió a Ecuador recopilar información de primera mano sobre la realidad laboral actual de las mujeres en este campo relevante. La estrategia utilizada consistió en: (i) reunir a actores interesados en promover la participación de las mujeres en áreas STEM, (ii) desarrollar un primer acercamiento al grupo objetivo, (iii) ejecutar el proceso, (iv) recopilar datos y (v) analizar los resultados. Entre los hallazgos más significativos se destaca que las mujeres muestran un gran interés en formar parte de la comunidad propuesta. Además, se identificó la realidad laboral de las mujeres en STEM en Ecuador, evidenciando que el 84 % de las encuestadas tiene empleo, y que la mayoría trabaja en el ámbito académico o en investigación. También se identificó un porcentaje pequeño pero interesante de emprendedoras, correspondiente al 14 %.es_EC

dc.description.abstract-enThis article presents an analysis of the findings from the first approach to women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in Ecuador, intending to propose and promote the formation of a STEM women's community. This approach enabled Ecuador to collect first-hand information about the current labor reality of women in this relevant field. The strategy used was to (i) gather actors who are interested in promoting women's participation in STEM fields, (ii) develop a first approach to the target group, (iii) execute, (iii) collect data, and (iv) analyze the results. Among the most significant findings they discovered; the following stand out Women are very interested in becoming a part of the proposed community. Identify the labor reality of STEM women in Ecuador, which shows that 84 percent of respondents have a job, with most respondents working in academia or research. A small but interesting percentage of entrepreneurs, 14 percent, was also discovered.es_EC
