| es_EC |

| dc.description.abstract-en | The present study aims to optimize the service life of generic drilling tools that are used empirically in micro, small, and medium-sized metalworking enterprises (MSMEs) in Ecuador. First, the preference for generic tools is assessed, the most widely accepted drill bits are selected, and a set of cutting parameters is proposed. Subsequently, tests are carried out in which flank wear and the consumed cutting power are observed. Finally, the experiment is repeated under cutting conditions commonly used by operators. The results show that generic drill bits have a composition similar to JIS-SKH55 tool steel. It is concluded that, with the proposed cutting parameters, the tool life is extended, although they exhibit higher power consumption. | es_EC |
