| Abstract: | En la actualidad Cannabis Sativa es la droga ilegal más consumida en el mundo, incrementándose día con día de forma recurrente en los adolescentes y jóvenes. Cannabis Sativa es una planta de origen asiático, ampliamente introducida en regiones subtropicales del mundo, se caracteriza por contener, gran familia de compuestos denominados Cannabis y canabinoides, substancia adictiva que genera efectos como inhibición de la acción simpática y afecciones que producen euforia placentera, sensación de relajación, perdida de sentido de identidad y stress cardiaco. El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar las causas y consumo de Cannabis Sativa en los estudiantes de una Unidad Educativa del Cantón Otavalo. Estudio descriptivo transversal, diseño cuantitativo no experimental, que incluyo una muestra conformada por 124 estudiantes de tercero de bachillerato, en los meses de Septiembre 2020 a Junio 2021, se recogieron variables sociodemográcas y que se relacionan con las causas del consumo de esta substancia, para lo cual se aplicó una encuesta validada por Dusi, Drug Use Screening Inventory/Versión Montevideo, consta de 32 ítems. Resultados. Las causas principales están asociadas a factores sociales, prevaleciendo elementos generados por desórdenes en áreas como; familia, entorno social, centro educativo, jornadas educativas, y la falta de comunicación con los educadores, predisponiendo al grupo investigado a consumir esta substancia. Conclusión. Se demuestra que más del 80 % de estudiantes consumieron Cannabis Sativa, siendo la droga más usada entre los adolescentes, ya que es la de más fácil acceso, después del tabaco y el alcohol. |

Cannabis Sativa is a plant of Asian origin, widely introduced in subtropical regions of the world, it is characterized by containing a large family of compounds called Cannabis and cannabinoids, an addictive substance that generates effects such as inhibition of sympathetic action and conditions that produce pleasant euphoria, sensation relaxation, loss of sense of identity and cardiac stress The objective of this research was to determine the causes and consumption of Cannabis Sativa in the students of an Educational Unit of the Otavalo Canton Cross-sectional descriptive study, non-experimental quantitative design, which included a sample made up of 124 third year high school students, in the months of Sep 2020 to Jun 2021, sociodemographic variables were collected and related to the causes of the consumption of this substance, to which was applied a survey validated by Dusi, Drug Use Screening Inventory / Montevideo Version, consisting of 32 items. The main causes are associated with social factors, prevailing elements generated by disorders in areas such as; family, social environment, educational center, educational days, and lack of communication with educators, predisposing the investigated group to consume this substance. Conclusion. It is shown that more than 80% of students consumed Cannabis Sativa, being the most used drug among adolescents, since it is the most easily accessible, after tobacco and alcohol. |
